LIMERICK COMPETITION
1st Prize - Laura Peters for "A dashing young dandy from Oare"
A dashing young dandy from Oare
Hunted deer across combe and gorse moor.
But his breeches, tight fitting,
At the seams started splitting
And he was more in the pink than before.
2nd Prize - Thomas Baillie for "Cloud on the Crown"
Two hikers from Leeds neared the crown
Of a hill above Dulverton town.
When a cloud did descend
One called to his friend,
"Mist's coom down on Combe Down so coom down!"
3rd Prize - Victoria Eveleigh for "On Exmoor a valley's a combe"
On Exmoor, a valley's a combe,
Furze refers to both gorse and to broom,
Red deer antlers are horns
Hinds have calves - and not fawns -
But a spade's called a spade, I presume.
