Porlock Arts Festival

13th - 16th September 2012

Friends of Porlock Arts Festival

The Festival has a number of aims and objectives.

Clearly it exists to promote the arts and hopes to create a public interest in a range of cultural activities. The Festival also aims to promote participation and learning opportunities for all sections and all ages of the community.

It supports and encourages new and established artists and enables them to share their work and there is a clear intent to involve local children and young adults.

The timing of the Festival is critical as well. The committee are keen to help extend the tourist season for the village and to support the local economy by creating a wide variety of entertainment and activity which attracts even more people to this lovely corner of Exmoor.

Since its inception we have welcomed many famous names in the world of literature and broadcasting and now sell out many of our events. Under the keen and welcome patronage of Dame Margaret Drabble, Porlock Arts Festival is now becoming widely known.

All of this takes time and effort.

The Festival is lucky enough to have a very hard working and active committee. They in turn are brilliantly supported by a number of people in so many different ways - We like to think of these people as ‘Friends’. We endeavour to keep our ‘Friends’ up to date with program developments and ticket availability and welcome their feedback or ideas.
